What is The Promise?
The Promise is a unique musical production expressing the inspirational story of the life of Jesus Christ in a modern family-friendly fashion. The Promise is based on Scripture, with music by contemporary award-winning Christian composers. Travis Tyre is returning for his ninth year as director of the musical. He is an original cast member who portrayed Satan from 1989 to 1994, including the 1993 production at the Kremlin State Palace in Moscow.
Where are the performances?
Performances of The Promise are held at the Texas Amphitheater in Glen Rose. This $8.5 million venue, the largest outdoor amphitheater in Texas, was built specifically for The Promise. The 4000-square-foot three-tier stage has 40-foot walls and arches. A moat containing 45,000 gallons of water separates the stage from the seating area. There are 3200 permanents seats. When the venue is rented for performances other than The Promise, bleachers and lawn seating raise the available seats to 5000.
The 2014 production, which runs on Friday and Saturday evenings from September 5 through November 1, 2014, features several animals and a cast and crew of 200 dedicated Christian people. Ticket prices range between $25 and $40. There is a $3 discount available in all but one seating section for groups of 15 or more people, students age 5 to 18, people age 55 and older, and military personnel with a current ID card.
